Day 21

Hello Everyone. Simba, here.

I hope you’ve been keeping well. That virus thing seems to be retreating doesn’t it. That must be a good thing.

But I’m still worried.

Worried? The White Delight? Who would have thought it?

He’s always interrupting me… and I think he’s being nasty about me again. Last time he called me a homicidal maniac. That wasn’t very nice was it?

If you remember, he killed a baby rabbit (poor thing). That is murder by anyone’s estimation.  He’s now claiming it committed suicide but, of course it didn’t. I know those rabbit warrens are overcrowded, I’ve nosed around a few myself, but whoever heard of a baby rabbit killing itself?

As I was saying. I’m worried. Leo’s little friend Maud is not keeping her social distance. She came into OUR HOUSE!

She was waiting at the back door for Leo, who was out on the prowl as usual, when she noticed the door was actually open and she CAME IN to find him.  I just hope her vaccinations are up to date!  Do you think it was dangerous?

I am not happy with the White Delight for criticising my little Maudie. She’s an absolute stunner and….. she appreciates my magnificence. Of course she’s not dangerous!  She wouldn’t hurt a fly!

No. Only a few dozen mice! Anyway, as you see I’m not in the house at the moment as I’ve heard you can avoid the virus thing by being outside. So, that’s where I shall stay for the foreseeable future (unless it rains).

Stay well everyone.

Day 20

Hello Everyone, Simba here.

I’m not awfully happy today. I was woken very early this morning by a cacophony of noise and I’m tired.

Just look at it. You can tell immediately that it’s a nasty, noxious and noisy thing, can’t you! And it’s not just one, there are SCORES of them of all shapes and sizes in my garden. They are quite small, but they pack a punch when it comes to noise. It makes you realise how quiet and serene we cats are.

And… do you know, there is a whole society dedicated to protecting something like this? What are they thinking?

Not surprising he’s cross! It’s nothing to do with birds.  He’s in trouble for killing a baby rabbit. He tries to look so sweet, but underneath it he’s a trained killer. You have no idea what I have to put up with. Would you like to live with a homicidal maniac?

He’s calling me a homicidal maniac! Look at me. Do you believe that?  I think I’ve told you before that HIS bites have been recorded in the accident book at the vet.

I did not kill the vet!

I’ve learnt over the years there’s no point in arguing with Leo, I’m too tired, anyway. So I shall close my eyes, cover them up and try to block out all interference!

Day 19

Hello World

It’s Leo (the magnificent) here and as you can see,  I am happy and content.  My world is good. Makes a difference from the worrying of the White Delight, does it not!   I don’t worry about the virus…. and if the postperson attempted to stroke me I would bite them in any case!

Just to let you know, I have a new friend.

May I introduce you to……………

MAUD

Here she is at the back door waiting for me to come out so we can have a little spin around the garden together. Irritate a few mice. That sort of thing.  Isn’t she sweet?

Sweet? Not if you’re a mouse, she isn’t. What is wrong with Leo? He’s done nothing but preen recently, which is odd when he claims to have self-cleaning paws. She may have a pretty face but I’m fed up of her camping out on the front door mat and hanging around the back doors. She’ll be wanting to come in next. Oh dear! She may want to eat our already-rationed kibbles! I don’t want to fall out with Leo but I would draw the line at that.

What is that White Delight talking about, now?  We tend to eat together (more companionable that way)  and I’m not sure if you can see it from this picture, but HE whips across and pinches a few of MY kibbles when he thinks I’m not looking. I nearly always let it go….. but if he starts to criticise Maud I may have to take action.

No, I’m in too good a mood at present to bite anyone. Take care… and if you’re feeling a bit down, my recommendation is: find a friend!

Day 18

Hello World! Leo (The Magnificent) here.

But you knew that, didn’t you.   I thought I would keep you up to date with the goings on today as the White Delight is in one of his spins. He’s convinced his tail has curled in a peculiar way because I fed him an egg. Look at me.  Would I do that?

Well, he HAS done it! Look at my beautiful tail. It has a kink at the end. How can I go out like this?

Well, he can’t go out like that, can he?  Impossible. He would have to put four paws on the ground and stop sprawling, for a start.

I don’t even think there are any eggs in the house. I gather they have been hard to find in these times of plague, along with flour.  Why is flour needed at all?  It’s some sort of white powder, isn’t it? Very suspicious in my opinion. When I had my “turn” they tried to put white powder on my food after I spat out the tablet. As if I wouldn’t know. Do they think I’m daft?

Anyway, what am I going to do about the White Delight’s tail?

I’ll get him to vomit. He vomits all the time because he gobbles his food.

Oh my paw! It has worked. My dear tail is almost straight again. Back to its lovely fluffy self. I don’t like vomiting, though… and it does rather suggest Leo fed me that egg in the first place!

Sometimes you just can’t win, can you?  I straighten out his tail for him and he’s not at all grateful.  Next time I’ll have to try putting a bit of that flour stuff on his food.  Perhaps it will make his ears curl!

For the moment, though, I shall bask in the knowledge I have done a good deed.

Day 17

Hello Everyone, Simba here.

I’ve been worried.  A little while ago Leo became  wobbly. Yes, actually wobbly. I thought it may be that nasty virus thing! Oh Horror!

Well this time he was right to worry. I was worried, too.  My wobbly turn resulted in my magnificent self being put into my transportation unit in the middle of the night and taken to an emergency vet where I was placed on a table in the car park. IN THE CAR PARK!

The vet was the usual –  lots of manhandling and an instrument in the tailbase. YUKKO! They don’t appreciate me.  They said I was tricky to handle. TRICKY TO HANDLE?  I could have bitten, but I decided not to. Then when I got home they tried and finally succeeded to put a nasty tasting tablet into my mouth.  I spat it out several times but finally decided to give in as I was tired. It was 1.45 AM!

Thankfully it’s not the virus. He’s been told not to jump about because he has a bad back. But, will he listen? Of course not. After a couple of days of rest he’s off on the prowl and has bees in his sights. They sting you know!

There he goes again. Actually I had some of his so-called “nasty, noxious, noisy” birds in my sights but decided to leave them alone.  Too much trouble.  I took some medicinal cat nip instead – the vets don’t know everything.

And now he’s better.. but he has to be careful! No jumping!

Ha!
